Abhishek Banerjee says BJP will 'lose at polls' as SC orders ECI to publish 1.25 cr discrepant voter names

Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee launched a fierce attack on the BJP following the Supreme Court’s verdict in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) case. Speaking to the media, he declared, "The BJP’s SIR game has now come to an end," emphasizing that ordinary citizens were being harassed in an attempt to remove large numbers of names from the voter list.

Banerjee detailed the party's efforts, revealing that on December 31, he, along with ten members of the TMC, met the Chief Election Commissioner in Delhi. During the meeting, they demanded transparency in the voter list discrepancies and called for the publication of the list to expose the truth. Despite their request to allow BLA-2 representatives at the hearing centers, the Election Commission had initially rejected it.

With the Supreme Court’s recent decision, Banerjee celebrated the outcome as a victory for the people of Bengal. The court directed the Election Commission to release the list of discrepancies and permitted the inclusion of BLA-2 representatives in the hearing process, preventing the deletion of nearly one crore voters’ names.

Banerjee emphasized that the ruling was a strong response to the BJP’s tactics, declaring that the people of Bengal would now defeat the BJP at the polls. He asserted, "Bengal is not Uttar Pradesh, nor Gujarat. We do not bow to external forces, and we will fight for our rights."
